A waffle is a batter that is cooked in waffle iron to give distinctive shape. A waffle maker is an electrical appliance to make waffle that consists of two metal plates. These plates are moulded to create honeycomb pattern on the waffles. When iron plates in the waffle maker are heated then batter is poured between the plates. These iron plates are then closed to bake the waffle.
There are different types of waffle makers present in the market. Irons are attached to tongs with wooden handles. Irons are held on a stove or over an open flame. In modern times waffle maker is an electrical appliance which is heated by an electric heating element and controlled by thermostat. There is a light which switches off when the iron is at the set temperature.
Waffle makers are coated with a non-stick material to prevent the waffles from sticking to it. There is large variety of choices available. Some machines are capable of making very thin waffles. These machines are capable of making waffle cones. There are no criteria set for the classification for waffles shapes and sizes. - Non stick cooking spray should be used for best results.
- Waffle iron should not be scrubbed.
